Unless you think a Shad is a fish and a Saint is a dead catholic....
This site was launched on May 23, 2005. It was initially created by and for Shads and Saints who graduated in the early '70s, but it is open to just about anyone who has a connection to the schools or to the people who attended them. There are only three rules:
1. Anything goes.
2. Be nice.
3. When in doubt about the application of Rule Number 1, refer to Rule Number 2.
Many of us have just recently reconnected with each other, and that is another reason for this site. It is trully fascinating to see and hear about the many roads we have traveled since we left the Sugar Bowl and Brewery Path behind. Add to that a dash of "life begins at 50" and the thing seems to have snowballed into something Jeff Collins probably never intended when he started collecting people's e-mail addresses shortly after the dawn of the Internet. It will continue to snowball. Won't you be a part of it?
If Freud was still around he would probably come up with a name for whatever it is that causes our school years to make such an indelible impression on us. Some of us are just like the Vietnam vets who can't quit wearing their OD jackets and berets, even 30 years later. Others are just going with the flow, and the flow has drifted them back to a place we called home for a while -- voluntarily or otherwise. Most of us are probably somewhere between those two extremes.
Whatever.
Unless you think a Shad is a fish and a Saint is a dead catholic, you're welcome here.
Go to the forums, read the posts, but then...
...leave a few footprints behind. Or leave a lot. Post some messages. Send some pics. Write an essay, a short story, a commentary, and submit it. Are you an artist? A musician? A chef? Show us your work. Are you a Shad/Saint who has a business you would like to promote among our little community? Send us your logo and/or a link to your site.
Is there someone from the school days who had a strong influence on you, but you've long since lost touch? This might be the place to start looking for them. And if you are still in touch with those people, make sure to tell them about this site.
If you're fighting some demons... be they from the old days or the new... don't shy away. Many of us have fought similar demons, and won. The ally and friend you need may be somewhere on this site.
Lastly, enjoy. Life really does begin at 50. For those of you who aren't there yet... well, you'll just have to wait.
